Dr. Gagan Deep Chhabra's Expertise and Specialization

  • Kidney Transplant: He manages living donor, deceased donor, and complex transplants, including ABO-incompatible and highly sensitized cases that need desensitization before surgery.
  • Interventional Nephrology: He performs dialysis access procedures, including AV fistula creation, AV shunt placement, and perm-cath insertion, which allow many patients to avoid repeated temporary catheter insertions.
  • Dialysis Care: He plans and supervises hemodialysis, continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD), intermittent peritoneal dialysis, and automated peritoneal dialysis based on the patient's kidney function and lifestyle.
  • Critical Care Nephrology: He manages kidney failure in intensive care settings using continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), sustained low-efficiency dialysis (SLED) and immunoadsorption.
  • Chronic Kidney Disease Management: He handles the medical care of CKD, including blood pressure control, anemia, bone mineral disease and planning the timing of dialysis or transplant.
  • Acute Kidney Injury: He treats sudden loss of kidney function caused by infection, dehydration, medication or surgery, to recover kidney function where possible.
  • Glomerular and Immune Kidney Disease: He diagnoses and treats glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome and membranous nephropathy, often supported by kidney biopsy.
  • Diabetic and Hypertensive Nephropathy: He works with patients whose kidney damage is linked to long-standing diabetes or high blood pressure, and focuses on slowing further loss of function.
  • Post-Transplant Follow-Up: He monitors immunosuppression, graft function, and infection risk after transplant, including for international patients returning home.

Some Noteworthy Patient Reviews for Dr. Gagan Deep Chhabra

The feedback below reflects patient experiences with the care and treatment provided by Dr. Gagan Deep Chhabra. These reviews are shared to help you understand what to expect from a consultation.

  • "My creatinine had been rising for two years, and no one had explained why. Dr. Chhabra thoroughly reviewed my old reports and put me on a plan. Six months later, the numbers are stable, and I understand my own condition much better."
  • "We came from Lagos for my brother's kidney transplant. The work-up took longer than we expected because of a blood group mismatch, but the doctor explained every step and did not rush us. My brother was discharged on day nine and is doing well."
  • "I had a fistula done by Dr. Chhabra after two failed attempts elsewhere. It has been working for over a year now without any problem. The dialysis sessions have been far less stressful since then."
  • "My mother was in the ICU with sudden kidney failure, and we were told she would need permanent dialysis. Dr. Chhabra started CRRT and her kidneys recovered over three weeks. We are grateful he did not give up on her."
